Poringland Community Centre

Poringland Community Centre Air COnditioning UnitsMany successful community centres are encountering problems with noise restrictions and overheating.

Poringland community centre is a typical example. No air conditioning was installed, and like most community centres it is located in the heart of the very community it serves on a daily basis.

The local council imposed a ban on the opening of the windows and doors when music is played, the result is a very hot and stuffy atmosphere in the main hall for the users, who then quite rightly complain to the community centre staff. This has caused conflict with the users of Poringland community centre and the local residents.

A decision was taken to have fresh air ventilation and air conditioning installed to alleviate the problems.

Pitkin & Ruddock Ltd were chosen from the many tenderers due to their professional approach giving clear options for the community centre. However this proved to be just the first step as objections were raised at the local planning meeting regarding possible increased noise levels from the air conditioning itself. Pitkin & Ruddock Ltd sent Norwich manager Andrew Reeve to the planning meeting where he was able to reassure members that no additional noise nuisance would be caused to the local residents.

"real bonus is the amount of 'FREE' cooling achieved"

Over the following 8 weeks the new air conditioning and fresh air ventilation/heat exchange systems were installed with no disruption to the daily operation of the community centre.

Now the systems are fully up and running the staff and those that use the community centre can benefit from the cool fresh atmosphere in the main hall at all times. And as predicted it is difficult to know when the units are running, as they are so quiet in operation.

A real bonus is the amount of 'FREE' cooling achieved in the cooler months by using the fresh air ventilation/heat exchange system only.

The site staff are very happy with both the system and its flexibility of operation, indeed they would welcome you, should you wish to visit and discuss similar problems.

Poringland community centre and its customers can now look forward to many successful dancing and musical events in comfort, and due to the systems flexibility this applies equally to a small affair in single selection of the main hall or a full blown event using all the centre and its many facilities, and of course the bonus of reduced costs by using the most economical and flexible systems available.

Now a happy and comfortable community centre!
